Attire For Wedding

With the wedding date just about one month from now, we are getting some questions about attire. Since the wedding is on a farm and it is going to be in the middle of September, we really want everyone to be comfortable, warm, and happy. The atmosphere that we are looking to have is very casual and country-ish. Blue jeans or chinos, a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of sandals is fine with us. We are trying to encourage women not to wear high heels as it will be pretty difficult to walk around the farm in them. Flats or sandals would probably be a better choice. Since the ceremony starts around 2:30 pm it could be pretty warm and sunny, but into the evening it could dip down into the 60s. So it might be a good idea to bring a shawl or a sweater for the later part of the day. And if anyone wants to bring a bathing suit and a towel there will be some time for swimming in the pond. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

Wedding Gifts

Over the past year Cindy and I have fallen in love with our home in the little hamlet of Halcottsville, in the Catskills area of upstate New York. We have been dreaming of building a wooden deck in the back area of the house and would greatly appreciate gift cards from The Home Depot to help this dream come true. Please click here to go to The Home Depot's gift card section on there website. And please click here to see an image of a deck that we really like and would love to have one day. We are also very interested in getting a nice canoe for new adventures in the area and would also be very happy to receive gift cards to LL Bean. Please click here to go to the website's gift card section.

Below are the places where we have created registries.

The Photographer

We are very excited about having our friend Keliy Anderson-Staley shoot our wedding.
She will be doing portraits of Cindy and I and the guests at the wedding in the very unique and old style of tintypes or ambrotypes. She and her assistant will also be shooting film and digital throughout portions of the wedding as well. The set up portraits that she will be taking will be available for purchase from her within a month or so after the wedding. We will have more information regarding this option at the wedding. We had her take some portraits of us a while ago and we loved them. Please click here to check out her work. She and I graduated from Hampshire College together and she recently got her MFA from Hunter College in New York. She is also available for portrait sessions so please contact her if you are interested in setting one up for yourself, a friend, or a family member. Above are a few of the images that she made of us.

Places To Stay

We are now only three months away from our wedding day.
Invitations were mailed today from the post office near our home in Clifton.
With each day that goes by we are getting more and more excited about everything.
While each and every guest will have their own travel and lodging arrangements, we do hope that everyone can stay for Saturday night to enjoy all of the events of the evening.

And with that said, please take a look at some of the different lodging options that are available in the area for everyone. We will not be putting any rooms or places on hold as many of them require a full deposit to reserve rooms. So please make lodging arrangements soon so that you don't find yourself without a place to sleep.

* The Roxbury is a very cool motel that is within 10 minutes of the location of the wedding. All of the rooms have there own theme and are pretty awesome.
Please click here to go to the site. There phone number is 607-326-7200.

* The Scudder Hill House is another option. Located about 15 minutes away from the location of the wedding, it has space for around 20 people. There is no website for this place but here is there information as well as a little blurb about it:

Scudder Hill House is located in the town of Roxbury and is only six miles from Plattekill and minutes from Belleayre. We can privately accommodate a couple anytime or large groups, upon request in advance. We serve a full continental breakfast.

Our rates range from $65 per room, per night with one queen bed, private bath; $79 per room, per night with one queen, two singles, private bath, TV and private entrance; same room with a fully equipped eik for $125 per night; or $79 per room, per night with one queen bed, private bath, small kitchenette and fireplace.

The Scudder Hill House has phone and WiFi service. It was built in 1860 and has a touch of old-world charm.

* There is also a resort that has several different lodging options. It is called The Hanah Mountain Resort and is also very close to the wedding location. Please click here to view the website. The resort offers golfing for anyone that will be able to fit in a game either before the wedding on Saturday or on Sunday. This option would not be our first choice.

* The Andes Hotel is in the very cute town of Andes and is a little further away from where the wedding will be. But it is a beautiful 30 minute drive through the mountains and there are antique shops and hiking paths along the way. Please click here to visit there website. But make sure that you have the volume turned down on your computer because they have music on the site.

* There is a cute little bed and breakfast in a town called Arkville, within 15-20 minutes from the wedding location. It is called the Meadowood Inn and the website can be viewed by clicking here.

For anyone that wants something a little different there is the option of renting an entire home. This might be ideal for a large group of people or a few couples that want to hang out together. There is a site called "A House Around The Bend' that has a couple of homes for rent in the area. Please click here for the website. And if you have any questions regarding this option, like if you would like to know if a certain home is close to the wedding location, please feel free to contact me.

Some folks have already asked about the different lodging options that are available at the actual farm where we will be having the wedding. Our close family will be occupying most of the rooms for Friday and Saturday night. There is a bunkhouse with 8 bunk beds and tons of space outside of it for tents and sleeping bags. While there is no plumbing or electricity in the bunkhouse people will be able to use the bathroom and shower in one of the barns on the farm, which is only a two minute walk down the dirt road. And there is a Porta-John right next to the bunkhouse. So for anyone that would like to stay on the farm, they can stay in this cabin or bring a tent and a sleeping bag and stay right next to the bunkhouse. Please click here to go to the farm's website. Go to the Lodging section and scroll down until you see the cabin.

Thanks so much everyone and please start thinking about what you will be doing in terms of sleeping arrangments. There are tons of fun outdoor activities for people of all ages to do in the are so we encourage everyone to stay Saturday night and hang out Sunday as well. We will definitely be having some sort of brunch gathering on that Sunday, most likely at our home in Halcottsville. It will be something very casual and simple, and will give anyone a chance to see our home and town that made us want to have the wedding in this area.

Please contact me if you have any questions at all.
